For Weill Cornell Medicine / NY Presbyterian Hospital Protected Airways Course interactive educational event, DSI Students created a design system for 250+ posters that would allow for improved navigation, communication, and future scalability of the course materials.

Sophia graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a minor in Communication Design. Since graduating, she has honed her design and brand strategy skills through two professional opportunities, most recently working as the Global Brand and Design Manager at MassChallenge, a global non-profit startup accelerator. Through her work at MassChallenge, she was exposed to entrepreneurs from around the world working to create meaningful change. This deepened her desire to explore how she can use her own skill set to create impact throughout her career and beyond. As she begins her graduate studies at SVA, Sophia is eager to expand her understanding of design methodologies and further develop the creative leadership skills needed to address social challenges. She is most looking forward to learning from and alongside the faculty and her peers as they navigate the field of social design.
Kexin is joining DSI from Beijing, China, where she grew up. She has an undergraduate degree in digital media and arts, which helped her discover an interest in UX/UI design, video editing, and intelligent hardware.
Kexin believes the value of design is solving social problems effectively, and improving life conditions while also progressing society. Specifically, she focuses on designing for people with disabilities and ways she can benefit public good through intelligent product design. To her, the hardest and most important step is finding valuable problems to solve between humans and society; once that is established, various methods may follow to solve it.
Overall, Kexin wants to help those in need and make the world a better place, and hopes her individual efforts will contribute to a more ideal society.
Krutika is an Art Director who grew up in Vadodara (India), Singapore and immigrated to Toronto, Canada where she currently lives. She graduated from Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) University with a Bachelor of Design, and has worked in the advertising industry for the past 4 years. Her experience of multicultural landscapes has shaped her creative process and helped her gain a deeper understanding of global perspectives. She believes that compassion and curiosity create social impact. She hopes to create accessible solutions that allow for more inclusive spaces for individuals who live on the spectrum of abilities.
Wooyo is from Tianjin, a cozy city in Northern China. As a member of the Korean ethnic group in China, she grew up with a mixture of Chinese and Korean cultures. Her background is in Wood Science & Products from the University of British Columbia and Beijing Forestry University. Wooyo has a long-standing interest in social psychology and design applications, and worked in related fields for several years before applying to DSI to further her education.
She is currently very interested in the coexistence of our rapidly developing society and modern people, especially the vulnerable (women, minorities, the disabled, etc.), and finding ways to better coordinate the two. As a big fan of console games, she feels that the best games are produced out of humanistic care. There have been many innovative models such as “game + tourism”, “game + medicine”, and “game + education” constantly emerging. This has inspired her to believe that games can play an important role in influencing our way of living and interacting, and promote social innovation.
To Wooyo, “discovering one’s own arrogance towards the earth and others is the path to hope.”
